Mestalla brimming with emotions running high
Relive the emotional events that took place in the run-up to Valencia CF-Real Betis to pay tribute to the victims and those affected by the tragic flash floods
Hugo Guillamón was once again a starter for Valencia CF in midweek action, helping them score a point against Sevilla FC in a 1-1 draw.
After the match, the midfielder spoke to VCF MEDIA about the night's events.
Dissatisfied with a draw
"We leave here with the feeling that we dropped two points. We came here to win and the first half was almost perfect. They couldn't get into the rhythm of the match. In the second half it was more difficult for us. We focused on defending. They equalised from a set piece. We had the chance to win the game from the penalty, but it wasn't to be."
The late penalty
"These things happen. Whoever takes the penalty has the possibility of missing it. José is our captain and we are all behind him. What he gives us is much more important than what that penalty could have meant."
Defensive work
"It's difficult to maintain that pressure. In the second half the team lost our legs a little. We can't have a great first half and be so dominating, and then be dominated ourselves in the second half. We have to learn and the path to follow is what we did in the first half."
Mestalla
"It's not easy to come here and get positive results. The team did a lot of things well. Now we go back to Mestalla, which is where we have to be strong."
